The Sinking City 2 Endings: How Many, How Choices Work & NG+ Carryover

Spoiler policy: this page discusses ending structure first and keeps named outcomes below a clear marker, so you can check mechanics without ruining the story.

How Many Endings Are There?

The Sinking City 2 resolves through multiple endings, decided by your choices in the final chapter rather than by a tally of earlier decisions. The game’s central question is the one Frogwares put on the box: you weigh one life against an entire city. Everything funnels into the rescue ritual at the Dreamlands threshold — what you do there determines Faye’s fate and Arkham’s.

Two things soften the pressure:

  • The point of no return is obvious — the Portal Room sequence in the final chapter (see the puzzle solution) is unmistakably the endgame.
  • New Game Plus exists. After the credits you can replay with carryover and commit to a different resolution — details in the NG+ guide.

Do Earlier Choices Matter?

Side investigations and case verdicts shape Calvin’s understanding of Arkham — and several closed cases get acknowledged in the finale — but the ending fork itself is made at the ritual. You are not locked out of any ending by missing an optional case, which means one save before the Portal Room is enough to see the alternatives.

Among the game’s 23 achievements, the late-game trio — Timeless Dawn, From Oblivion (a nod to Lovecraft’s “Ex Oblivione”) and For Her — track the endgame and full completion. For Her requires unlocking everything else, so a completionist run means seeing the endings.

The Final Choice

At the threshold, the ritual asks what Calvin is willing to sacrifice to pull Faye’s soul back from the Dreamlands. Committing to her rescue and committing to Arkham’s protection pull in opposite directions, and the game honors the choice you make rather than grading it — there is no “golden” ending that unlocks extra content. Community discussion of which resolution is canon is ongoing (Frogwares hasn’t said), and we’re keeping named outcome summaries brief until the speedrun of every variant is fully documented post-launch. Check back after the next update.
